RED RED WINE, MARCH 4, 2017
Standing Stone Winery on Seneca Lake has some great winter events
Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 18 when we’ll have the first of four Barrel Bonanzas planned for 2017. The day includes two in-depth barrel tastings to assess how the 2016 wines are settling in – one at 12:15 pm and the next at 2:15 pm. Then choose one of two Vertical Tastings – Petit Verdot at 1:30 pm and Saperavi at 3:30 pm. To encourage you to hang out with us for the better part of the afternoon, we’ll offer (as always) some interesting library wines, and a special tasting experience. We’re curious to compare decanting vs. opening in advance, and we want you to join us. So we’ll try Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 four ways: one opened 24 hours earlier, one opened six hours earlier, one opened and decanted, and one opened at the time of tasting. We’ll also ask you to continue to help us analyze oak aging time for Saperavi, by tasting and making notes on three bottles of Saperavi 2014 – one bottled at 10 months in oak, one at 15 months in oak and one at 18 months in oak. All this for just $25 per person. Call or email and reserve your seats now!
Cabernet Sauvignon Vertical Tasting | Sunday, April 2 We’ll be tasting six vintages of Library Cabernet Sauvignon beginning with the 2016 – now in the barrel developing luscious flavors and textures. We’ll go back to the 2010 in a straight line, and then Marti will find something a bit older to show off. While we have become quite good at making Cabernet Sauvignon that tastes good as youngster, this tasting will show you how much this variety likes some time in the cellar. Make your reservations now to secure your spot at either the 12:30 or the 2:30 seating. This event ALWAYS sells out. We’ll pair the wines with some light food to show off the richness of this classic grape. Your price is just $25 per person (half that for those of you also in one of our Clubs!) Call or email to reserve your spot now.
