Join us for an 11 day Cruisetour to Alaska. Leaving from the Geneva and Penn Yan area, we travel westward to the last great frontier. (Other flights available from many other cities, but will not include airport transfers). Our journey begins on a luxury cruise ship from Vancouver, sailing through a network of waterways known as the Inside Passage. On these tranquil waters, you will witness an abundance of wildlife and glorious scenery. We will be making stops at Ketchikan, where the totem poles are constructed, Juneau, the State Capital, only accessible by air or water and Skagway, the heart of the Gold Rush. This town looks identical to the way it did in the 1800’s. Each day brings more and more beauty with views of the rugged shores, until we reach Glacier Bay and College Fjord. Not all cruise ships are allowed into Glacier Bay National Park, but our ship will be able to see the glaciers, up close and personal.
On our last morning on the ship, we awake in Whittier, Alaska, where we board the Alaska Railroad in a comfortable Princess Rail car on a scenic journey through the heart of Alaska. The incredible landscape is visible through the glass-domed rail cars and the open-air observation platforms. This entire journey is complete with commentary from your rail guides.
We spend 2 nights at Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge with a Natural History tour to see the wildlife and scenery of Denali National Park. There will be time to relax or to take an optional trip while we are here. In 2 days time, we continue on via coach to the “Golden Heart City”, Fairbanks. Here we will cruise on an authentic Sternwheeler Riverboat on the Chena River. The boat visits an Athabascan village and dog sled kennels. There are station throughout the village where you can hear tales of old Alaska and of Salmon Fishing, dogsledding and general living.
This tour has many special offers which have not been available on past cruises. There is now an opportunity to purchase most of your land meals in advance. The cool part is, the choices are ala carte with no limitations and include tax and gratuity. It is quite the deal.
The group has chosen to leave one day in advance and have an overnight in Vancouver prior to the cruise. There will be airport shuttle from Geneva to the airport at no extra charge.
